Flashing Lights!

So just last night I was kinda bored and thought, “let me check out some new apps for my phone.” What a pleasant suprise to find that now I can take a picture and then brighten it to my liking as though I had a flash on my camera phone! That was actually one of the things I was a little bummed about when I saw all those Blackberry users taking awesome flash photos. Thank you for thinking of everything, Freetheapps!

So below is my first experiment with this new app and there is a little story that goes along with the photo. One remarkable afternoon me and my lady went out for dinner and then walked along the boardwalk on the search for some ice cream. But before we got there, we couldn’t help but notice one of the mannequins in the neighboring storefront window had a little slippage. It was night time so the picture did come out a little darker than hoped but now I have his new app which is perfect for this occassion! Check it out below. Of course I thought well, what would happen if I used it a couple of times to the same picture and it works maybe a little too well.

Every now and again I get tired of the rap music that is produced in the industry. When this happens I gotta look back to my main staples in rap, which I won’t list now but this dude is definitely one of ‘em. He’s probably the most interesting rapper at the moment worth listening to. Always some new way to look at his euphamisms and wordplay. Thank you Lupe! I was really in search of his new single, Shining Down featuring Matthew Santos when I stumbled upon it. There are a few familiar songs on here like Commercial, and also Me And My Sneaker, where Lupe raps over an A-Trak beat also known as Mastered. This song originally had Kid Cudi rapping over it and Lupe’s version wasn’t cleared in time for it’s release. I love the cover art for this mixtape by the way, it works well as a great concept with the name and the photo of Lupe, which was picked up from a Complex photoshoot (August/September 2008 issue to be exact!) Now let’s just enjoy this dude’s creativity and not think about his threat to retire after the next album. Oh! Might I add, the last song (bonus track) is a definite banger although it’s recycled; Superstar lyrics matched up on Kid Cudi’s Day ‘N Nite. Click here for the download.

Always a good rhythm and electro beat from the Ed Rec. artist, Mr. Oizo. This is his signature muppet/alternate persona. I just really enjoy his speech patterns. Good background music too.

Looks like my favorite band is back at it again! I remember when I first heard these mates on a cd and then I was like, “Wait, I’ve heard that song before” Yup subliminal stuff. Their song Helicopter has been played many many times before on FIFA 2006 in the background when picking your teams. I love how video games (not that I play much anymore) use up-and-coming artists in their games. Well the good ones anyway. Its a great way for them to break new ground. Sorry, I tend to digress. But what I really like about this video is the guy on the keyboard in the beginning and also the Ouija board. Never really had the guts to try and play a real Ouija game but let me know if anyone wants a go at it… Now and forever, I love Bloc Party!

Just found this ad while in my swim trunks surfing the web. Skittles has had some great advertising lately and definitely cuts through the clutter and knows exactly who their target demographic is. Short and sweet. Taste the rainbow!

KAWS x Hajime Sorayama

The missing tooth is a nice touch

which was produced by Medicom Toy/Original Fake. The figure comes at the end of a three year process that started with Sorayama’s painted interpretation of KAWS’ iconic Companion figure in 2006. From there, KAWS and Medicom set forth with turning the image into a fully pose-able metal figure that comes on a removable stand. Check below for images of the KAWS x Hajime Sorayama NO FUTURE COMPANION. This is strictly for beaucoup art fanatics that have $980 to spare. I’d personally go by 20 bicycles and start my own skate gang or something. Don’t get me wrong cause, the design is crazy but that’s more than my rent… For a toy?
